Mindfulness-based interventions and spirituality

Abstract Texture

Summary

Though mindfulness-based interventions (MBIs) have roots in contemplative practices originating in religious and spiritual traditions, those programs are often positioned as secular, do not make reference to the original systems, and are not designed to enhance spirituality explicitly. However, it is theorized that MBIs lead to an increase in spirituality even without explicit teaching.

The main objective of this research project was to investigate whether mindfulness-based interventions (MBIs) would lead to the increase of different facets of spirituality and related constructs.
